Queensland Police are bringing ‘Coffee with a Cop’ to the Redlands.
Taking place at 2 Shots Coffee Shop, at the rear entrance of Alexandra Hills Shopping Centre from 9:30am to 11:30am this Friday.
Senior Constable Sam Schofield along with officers from Capalaba Station, Crime Prevention Unit, Crime Stoppers and Volunteers in Policing will be on hand to supply free non-reversible number plate screws to be attached to registration plates on vehicles.
Senior Constable Schofield said that number plate theft is common and stolen plates are often subsequently used in associated crimes like petrol thefts and armed robberies.
“The screws can be tightened, but only removed with a special tool which is distributed to police stations and the Department of Transport and Main Roads,” Senior Constable Schofield said.
The Coffee with a Cop initiative was introduced in Queensland in 2014 to build community engagement and relationships with local police.
