The Queen launched the Commonwealth Games baton relay in London yesterday, as the countdown to next year’s Gold Coast Games begins in earnest.
It’ll be breezing into Our Towns from March next year and we only have until May to nominate local champions and heroes as Baton Carriers.
Between now and 15 May 2017, anyone can nominate a person who inspires them to be great to be a local nominee to carry the baton on its journey through the region.
Nominations can be made at gc2018.com/qbr.
The Queen’s Baton Relay will begin with a ceremony on the Buckingham Palace forecourt before the torch, carrying a message from the Queen, heads off on its 388-day, 230,000km journey.
The torch will do a grand tour of all 52 Commonwealth nations and territories in Africa, the Americas, the Caribbean, Oceania, Asia and Europe before spending 100 days in Australia leading up to the start of the Games on April 4.
