The Rotary Club of South Brisbane’s yearly picnic in the park at the Wellington Point Reserve of special needs children has gone off with much love and laughter again this year.
The day centered upon special needs students and gave them an opportunity to have a day outside of the classroom and to interact with emergency services personnel, government agencies, private clubs and individuals.
Judging by the smiles on all the (painted) faces, the event was declared a huge success.
Present were police officers from the Capalaba Road Policing Unit, who gave children a ride around the carpark in a highway patrol vehicle, as well as officers from the Redland Bay Water Police, who took groups of 12 out in the QPV Kerlin which was a crowd favourite.
Also in attendance were Queensland Ambulance officers from Redland Bay, Queensland Fire and Rescue officers from Cleveland, Queensland Parks and Wildlife officers from Wynnum, as well as members of the Military Jeep Club of Queensland.
