Friday, September 29 is National Police Remembrance Day, the most significant day on the police calendar.
As such it is an important date to pause, to honour, remember and thank those police officers whose lives have been lost while performing their duties.
No greater sacrifice can be asked for – or can be made – than that of these fine men and women who we acknowledge today on National Police Remembrance Day. To this day, the Queensland Police Service has lost 145 fine officers, since Constable M Connolly in 1861.
Every year we have the same wish– that no further names are added to the Police Remembrance Day list.
Tragically this year, the community lost Senior Constable Brett Andrew Forte. Police are inviting members of the pubic to acknowledge our support for police by inviting us to attend the local service or by wearing a Remembrance Day ribbon on September 29.
Community members are welcome at the Redlands service, to pay tribute to the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
