With only a week to go, Capalaba police decided to bring Christmas early to some much-deserved kids at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.
With smiles and laughs, police officers and police liaison officers went through the wards to give special gifts to the sick kids including teddies, colouring books and stickers.
While they may all be wearing blue, the officer’s dressed in the Christmas spirit with tinsel and Santa hats and don’t forget the big sack filled with toys.
Acting Senior Constable Vrinda McCauley, who for the second year in a row brought her team of police elves along to help, says that these moment’s is what community policing is all about.
“This initiative, is part of the Cops Care teddy program which focuses on building the relationships between children and police, whilst making sick and vulnerable kid’s feel safer.”
“Today, we saw lots of smiles and laughs from not only the sick children but also their siblings and parents.”
“With Christmas only around the corner, it is important bring joy into the lives of those who may not be home on the special day.”
“A special mention needs to go out to all the amazing volunteers at local craft groups who have hand made all the teddies, without you none of this would have been possible.”
“On behalf of all the police elves that were here with me today and the Capalaba police, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe new year.”
