About SMB Islands Tourism
Experience our unique island lifestyle
Only one hour’s drive and ferry ride from Brisbane city, the Southern Moreton Bay Islands (also known as the Bay Islands) are the perfect distance for a day trip or a romantic long weekend getaway.
Comprising the four populated islands of Macleay, Lamb, Karragarra and Russell, the Southern Moreton Bay Islands offer a wealth of water activities, abundant wildlife, heritage walks, festivals and events, and are a hub of artistic talent, with works of accomplished painters, sculptors and potters on display at galleries and market stalls.
The area is known for conservation tourism and is ideal for biking, walking and bird watching.
Water lovers will enjoy boating, fishing and kayaking in Moreton Bay, as well as the many secluded water holes and pristine beaches for swimming. Turtles, dolphins and dugongs seem to like this quiet environment too and can often be seen in the secluded waters.
There is a range of accommodation to suit every budget, from luxury bed and breakfast to self-contained family holiday accommodation. Courtesy buses run on Macleay, Lamb and Russell Islands and the free inter-island ferry makes island hopping a must!
Whether you’re after adventure and activity or simply a break to relax and rejuvenate, our islands have it all here waiting for you.
